For each kaleidoscope, remove the protective film from the faces of three mirrors. Gather the mirrors in your hands, long edges together. Gently and carefully fold the mirrors into a triangle, shiny sides in. Line up the corners to form an equilateral triangle. How do you make a kaleidoscope out of Mylar?
There are many different types of kaleidoscopes that create different patterns, but all use the same basic laws of physics, manipulating light and reflection. Step 2: Materials
This will be the main tube for the kaleidoscope. Lay the 3 strips side by side and upside down. Be sure to leave a small gap between each strip. "Small gap" here means about 1/8" (.3 cm). Then, tape the mirrors together , bend them into a triangle shape, and set aside. Do not cut completely through the plastic, however.

To complete your kaleidoscope, simply roll up the strips of foil around the straw and tape them in place. First, cut a piece of aluminum foil that is about 3 inches by 6 inches. Next, use the scissors to cut out a triangle shape from the folded edge of the foil. Now, unfold the foil and tape the triangle shape to the center of one long side of the foil. Make your own reflective prism by folding a piece of cardboard about 4 x 5 inches into a triangle and sealing off the ends with tape. The foil is cut slightly larger than the cardboard and taped to the card board with clear tape at the only point.
